iPhone Duo Goes on Sale Worldwide as Pre-Orders Sell Out

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, went on sale today, Friday 23 October, in more than 70 countries, one week after pre-orders opened on 16 October and sold out. Queues formed at flagship stores including Sydney, and Apple has limited purchases to two units per customer as launch stock tightens. A further 28 countries follow from 30 October. Pakistan is not a launch country, so the Duo reaches local buyers through importers.
Demand described as “extraordinary”
Reuters described the launch response as “nothing short of extraordinary”, with pre-orders exhausted ahead of release day. Some pre-order delivery dates have already slipped into January 2027, a pattern also seen in the first reviews coverage of the Duo’s launch week.
Production target reportedly raised
Supply-chain reporting from DigiTimes, carried by TradingKey and corroborated by 9to5Mac, says Foxconn has raised its 12-month production target for the Duo by about 44 percent, from 9.7 million to 14 million units. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo forecasts that Apple will account for around 31 percent of all foldable phones shipped in 2026 and lead the foldable category by units in 2027. These are industry reports and forecasts, not Apple figures.
Early durability report
A single published fold test, reported by My Mobile India, found a visible crease forming after 10,000 continuous folds, while the display survived 1,000 folds at minus 20 degrees Celsius. One test is not a verdict on durability, and the first full reviews paint a more measured picture of the crease, covered in our iPhone Duo crease report.
