OPPO Reno 16 Gets a Second India Price Hike, Up to Rs. 7,000, Plus a New 128GB Variant

The OPPO Reno 16 has become more expensive in India for the second time since its July launch, with the latest revision adding up to Rs. 7,000 across its variants from October 22. The top configuration now costs Rs. 79,999, which is Rs. 12,000 more than its launch price barely three months ago. OPPO has not publicly explained the increase, but it fits a pattern running across the industry this year, as rising memory prices squeeze what manufacturers can charge for mid-range hardware.

The revised prices

The new figures were first shared by tipster Sanju Choudhary and have since been reflected on OPPO India’s own website, which Gadgets360 verified. A new entry-level variant has also been added to the range.

  • 8GB + 128GB (new variant): Rs. 65,999
  • 8GB + 256GB: Rs. 66,999, up to Rs. 72,999
  • 12GB + 256GB: Rs. 72,999, up to Rs. 79,999
  • Launch prices on July 2 were Rs. 61,999 and Rs. 67,999, so the two original variants are now Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 12,000 dearer in total

The first increase came in August, when both variants rose by Rs. 5,000. The new 128GB variant at least restores a sub-Rs. 66,000 entry point to the range, close to where the phone originally started. It also lands just above a direct rival: the Vivo V80 sells in India at Rs. 62,999 in the same 8GB + 128GB configuration, so the Reno 16’s new base model starts Rs. 3,000 above it.

Why phone prices keep climbing

The common thread in this year’s revisions is memory. Demand for DRAM and storage from AI data centres has pushed component costs up across the industry, and manufacturers have been passing the increase on rather than absorbing it, a squeeze that market trackers link to the sharp fall in global smartphone shipments this quarter. OPPO has applied similar increases to several other models in India this year, and rival brands have done the same.

The Reno 16 hardware, unchanged

Nothing about the phone itself has changed. The Reno 16 has a 6.32-inch AMOLED display at 1,216 x 2,640 pixels with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, and a triple 50MP rear camera system with optical image stabilisation on the main camera, plus a 50MP selfie camera. A 6,700mAh battery with 80W wired charging and ColorOS 16 on Android 16 complete the package, in Starry White, Stellar Purple and Twilight Violet.

What it means for buyers in Pakistan

India’s revisions do not set Pakistan prices directly, and no Pakistani figure changes as a result of this news. The signal for local buyers is directional: when a mid-range phone rises by this much in a neighbouring market within one quarter, imported and parallel-channel pricing here tends to follow the same pressure over time. Current Pakistan pricing and the full specification are on our OPPO Reno 16 product page.
