Galaxy Z Fold 8 Series Sales Rise 45% in Europe as Foldable Searches Jump 460%

Samsung’s newest book-style foldables are having their strongest European run yet. The company says combined sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in Europe are up 45% compared with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 over the equivalent period after launch. Interest built before the phones even settled into shops: searches for Samsung foldables across major European markets climbed through September and peaked at 460% above baseline in a single week.
The numbers Samsung is reporting
- Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra combined European sales: up 45% against the Fold 7’s equivalent launch period
- Google searches for Samsung foldables in major European markets: up 260% across September
- Peak search week, September 6 to 12: up 460%
The search spike lands in the same window as Apple’s iPhone Duo announcement, which put foldables in front of a mainstream audience that had largely ignored the category. Samsung appears to have converted that attention into sales of the phones it has been refining for eight generations. The pair launched alongside the Z Flip 8 on July 22 and went on sale from August 7, with the wider, lighter Fold 8 introducing a new 4:3-style form factor and the Fold 8 Ultra carrying the familiar large-fold formula with a 200MP main camera.
The momentum started before the sales figures. In early August, Samsung announced that the Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8 had become its most pre-ordered foldables in Europe, passing the company’s own targets within the pre-order window. Sustained sales after launch, rather than a first-week spike, are what the 45% figure now adds. The redesigned Fold 8 is also Samsung’s lightest Fold yet at 201g, which may help explain why the new shape is converting interest into purchases rather than curiosity alone.
The panel business behind the phones
The retail numbers sit on top of a bigger supply story. Omdia expects foldable display panel shipments to grow 44% year on year to roughly 29 million units in 2026, and Samsung Display is projected to take about 66% of that market, because it supplies panels for both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 line and Apple’s iPhone Duo. Wider aspect ratios are the industry’s direction of travel this year, with book-style foldables being repositioned as productivity devices rather than expensive novelties.
Why it matters beyond Europe
Foldables remain a small slice of the overall phone market, but Europe is the segment’s most competitive large market, and a 45% jump there suggests the wider Fold 8 redesign landed with buyers. For Pakistan, where the Fold 8 series is sold through official and import channels, stronger global demand usually means steadier supply and fewer early discounts, rather than any immediate price change.
