iOS 27.3 Public Beta: Redesigned Health App, Duo Reachability and More

Apple has seeded the first public beta of iOS 27.3, two days after the developer beta landed on 3 November as build 24C5037i. The release is a feature update rather than a fix pass: the Health app returns in redesigned form, the iPhone Duo gains Reachability, Safari gets vertical tabs, and Apple Intelligence takes its first step into China. A public release is expected in December, though Apple has confirmed no date.

The Health app returns, redesigned

The redesigned Health app is the largest change in the beta. It brings back an Insights tab, a Readiness score and a Health Age figure, and it adds lab scheduling through Quest Diagnostics. The redesign had been expected for some time; its arrival in a point release rather than a major version shows how much of Apple’s health work now ships outside the September cycle.

Duo Reachability and StandBy

The iPhone Duo gains Reachability, the one-handed mode that pulls the top of the screen down. On a device with two screens it is a practical addition rather than a cosmetic one: the inner display is wide, and reaching the far corner without it takes two hands. StandBy gets more customisation too — updated analogue and digital clock faces, a Photos face that now supports Shared Albums, new Calendar and Weather faces, and the ability to create multiple versions of each face and swipe between them. Several of those StandBy options first appeared on the Duo.

Safari, Siri and China

Safari gains vertical tabs, and an adaptive dark mode follows the system more closely. Siri AI opens to third-party apps through a Developer Preview built on App Intents, so developers can start wiring their apps into the new Siri before it reaches everyone. Apple Intelligence reaches China in December, on iPhone first, without Siri AI at launch — Apple said so on its Chinese newsroom site on 30 October, and the first wave covers writing, photo, notification and translation tools, with Siri and Image Playground absent.

The beta also touches the watch and the Mac toolchain: watchOS adds Siri Recap and Live Rewind on the Watch Series 12 and Watch Ultra 4, and Xcode 27.3 adds GitHub Copilot. None of those needs the phone beta to be useful, but they ship on the same December track.

Public beta testers should treat this as an early build: battery life and app quirks are the usual cost of testing, and the December release date is an expectation, not a promise. Back up before installing, as with any beta.
