Samsung W27 Foldable Teased for October 29: Gold Frame, Luxury Finish, China First

Samsung is not done with foldables for 2026. The company has teased a new book-style foldable for China on Wednesday, October 29 at 4pm local time (1pm PKT), showing a device with a striking gold frame in its official teaser art. Samsung’s teaser names no model, gives no specifications and mentions no price — but the rest of the picture is already filling in, and it points to one of Samsung’s most exclusive product lines.

What Samsung has confirmed

  • Launch: October 29, 2026, 4pm China time, at Samsung’s “Heart of the World” event in China
  • Form factor: a book-style foldable, opening like a book into a larger inner screen
  • Design: a gold-coloured frame, shown in the official teaser art
  • Registration: a W2026 page is already live in China, with pre-orders reported open

That is the full confirmed list, and it is short by design. Samsung’s China teasers routinely reveal a silhouette or a colour first and leave the model name and specifications for the event. The five-day gap between teaser and launch is exactly when the company’s carrier and retail partners tend to fill in the details.

Why everyone calls it the W27

The identification comes from leaker Ice Universe, who named the device as the Samsung W27 shortly after the teaser appeared and shared a photo of it. The leaked photo shows a dark blue rear panel with gold accents on the frame and camera island, a gold W-series seal logo near the bottom, and the same triple-camera pill-shaped module as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The gold in the official teaser matches the gold in the leaked photo, which gives the leak more weight than an anonymous render would carry.

The W series is Samsung’s annual luxury foldable for China, sold through China Telecom. Each year it takes the current Galaxy Fold flagship and dresses it up: premium finishes, more memory as standard, and a larger retail package with extras such as a custom case, a power adapter and a certificate of authenticity. Last year’s W26, based on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, came in red and black with gold accents, shipped 16GB of RAM on both its 512GB and 1TB versions, added satellite calling and messaging through China’s Tiantong system, and started at CNY 16,999 (about $2,390). The W27 is expected to follow the same playbook.

What it is expected to pack

If the W27 is the Fold 8 Ultra underneath, as the leak claims, the hardware is already a known quantity: a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip, an 8-inch foldable inner display with a 6.5-inch 120Hz cover screen, a 200MP main camera backed by 50MP and 10MP lenses, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired and 20W wireless charging. Judging by the W26, 16GB of RAM is likely standard across storage versions. All of that is expected, not confirmed — Samsung has confirmed none of it, and the W series has occasionally diverged from its global twin in memory and exclusive software features. The W27’s price is not yet confirmed, and a sale date of November 5 has been reported but not confirmed by Samsung.

For buyers in Pakistan, the W27 matters only as an import story. The W series is China-exclusive, and any W27 reaching Pakistan would arrive through third-party import channels at a premium over the global Fold 8 Ultra, with a price not yet confirmed. The phone to watch for most readers is the Fold 8 Ultra itself; the W27 is the version for collectors who want the gold frame and the seal logo. Full specifications land on October 29, and this post will be worth revisiting once Samsung confirms what the teaser only hints at.
